What are Samsung SmartTags?
Samsung SmartTags are small, handy devices that help you keep track of your belongings. Whether it’s your keys, wallet, or backpack, a SmartTag helps you keep track of where things are and easilty find them with ringing features set by your phone. Samsung SmartTags use Bluetooth to connect to your Samsung phone. They work through the SmartThings app, allowing you to see the location of your tagged items on a map. Some SmartTags, like the SmartTag+, also use Ultra Wideband (UWB) for precise location tracking indoors, helping you find your items with centimeter-level accuracy.
What can I use Samsung SmartTags for?
SmartTags are incredibly versatile. You can attach them to:
- Keys, wallets, and purses
- Bags, backpacks, or luggage
- Pets’ collars
- Remote controls or other easily misplaced household items
Potentially controversial, but some parents also attach Samsung SmartTags to the child’s inner clothing or inside their shoe to keep track of their child when they walk home from school or go out with friends. This helps parents have peace of mind that their child is safe, and if anything goes wrong they can easily track their child’s location.
How do I connect my Samsung SmartTag to my phone?
Connecting a SmartTag is simple through the SmartThings app on your Samsung phone. Simply open the app, select add device and then ‘SmartTag’. Hold the SmartTag close to your phone and follow the prompts on the screen. You can name the tag once you’ve connected it based on where you decide to attach the tag. You can view device location on a map in the SmartThings app and initiate the tag alarm if you need to find it.
Do Samsung SmartTags work without my phone being close?
Yes they do, they can still show on your map even if your phone isn’t close. This is because of the ‘Galaxy Find Network’ which uses other Samsung devices close to your tag to locate it and send messages to your phone on your tags whereabouts. As long as your tag is near any Samsung device, the location of your tag can appear in your SmartThings app.
