This smart home hub has so many uses, but we want to share the top 4 features we use as part of our daily routine. We use it to control our lights from anywhere, stay on top of family organisation with a shared calendar (complete with weather updates and home appointments), display a rotating selection of our favorite photos like a digital frame in the kitchen, and stream Netflix or YouTube while cooking dinner. While this fan and air purifier is definitely on the pricier side, it’s worth every cent. We have ours set up in the kids’ room where we can control and adjust it right from our phones while lying in bed. One of the best features of this Dyson fan is the ability to set timers, we have ours programmed to switch on the heater between 2am and 4am during winter, so the kids stay warm when the temperature drops. Every bit of air, whether hot or cool, is filtered, and the HEPA filter is not only easy to replace but also tracks its own lifespan in the app, showing a percentage so you’ll always know when it’s time for a change.

We’ve also connected this smart bulb to our phones and Echo Show 8. All it takes is a simple command like, “Alexa, turn on the kitchen light,” and it responds instantly. The colour range is practically unlimited, and brightness is easy to adjust through the Tapo app. You can set schedules for the light to turn on and off automatically, and the bulbs are energy-efficient with excellent longevity, so you don’t have to replace them as often as regular bulbs. We use E27 screw bulbs, but they’re also available in B22 if that’s what your home requires.
JBL Speaker Range
Whenever anyone asks what speaker is the best, our answer is always JBL. When our kids were little, we used the JBL Go 3 (now Go 4) to play white noise in the pram during walks. For music by the pool, the JBL Flip was our go-to, and for family karaoke or even when we were asked to MC at a friend’s wedding, the JBL PartyBox with microphones came to the rescue. While it’s probably a stretch to say you need these speakers, they’ve brought so much joy to our family and created countless moments of connection. The sound quality is excellent, especially the bass, and the products are durable, easy to charge, and the batteries last just as long as advertised.
